There are an estimated
1.7 million orphan children in Kenya East Africa
today! Everywhere that you turn children are begging
for food, money or just want to be touched. Many
have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, malaria,
typhoid or other disease. Others have been abandoned
and left alone to fend for themselves because of the
inability to be cared for. We have seen children as
young as 10 years old engaging in prostitution,
stealing and begging in order to survive. This year
we met a young boy around 12 years old drinking
gasoline on the streets of Kitale. Drugs and alcohol
are a way of life in order to mask to pain of their
existence. Too many of these children face futures
defined by poverty, malnourishment, and even death!
Each month you will
provide care for orphans and other vulnerable
children with things like healthcare and nourishing
food. You will help children stay in school or
receive vocational training by helping pay for
school materials and fees. You will also help equip
volunteer caregivers who provide loving care to
orphans and vulnerable children. Your gifts will
also help us offer HIV-prevention and abstinence
training for youth, and train community leaders to
become advocates for children who have been orphaned
or made vulnerable because of AIDS. Together we can
help save them, one by one. |

As most of you know, we
have just returned once again from a very busy and eventful
trip to Kenya East Africa were we worked with "Instep
Foundation" orphanage and baby rescue mission.
We also preached and showed the Jesus Film, now to a total
of 9,500 people (over 8,600 salvation decisions).
By the end of each trip we are always so very ready to come
back home. Once back to the states, the last thing in our
minds is planning another trip. Truly these mission trips
are very taxing on our physical bodies, emotions and
attitudes. Each day consists of long hours of physical work,
traveling on virtually impassable roads, getting stuck in
the mud, facing dangers, and many hours preaching and
teaching about Jesus. It is a constant challenge of
overcoming obstacles of personal fears, corruption from the
police and others, lack of regular nutrition and much more.
The Great Rift Valley Region of Kenya would not have been my
first choice for missions work if I had my say in the
matter. But as you all know, it is not up to us!! God makes
these choices and decisions for our lives. To be completely
honest, sometimes I regret praying in the manner that I did
three years ago when I said "God what ever you
want for my life, I am willing to serve you!".
It would have been much easier just staying here in Bath,
New York living a simple life and doing my own thing. It all
seems so complicated at times and there is no normality as
most folks know it. Sometimes I struggle with the fact that
I do not supply the proper security for my wife as I drag
her half way around the world into the unknown. Sometimes I
wonder what exactly I am doing!! And then on top of all
this, I receive the constant criticism from others who say,
"why aren't you helping the one's right here in
the United States that need help!" And
truthfully I have no logical answer for them!! All I know is
that almost three years ago God put an all consuming fire in
my heart for the people of Kenya Africa and I have never
been the same since. I am driven day and night to work with
the orphan children there and preach the salvation message
to the unsaved. I go to bed with the thought and wake up
with the thought! My dreams are even filled with Africa and
her people. At times I wish that I could just shut it all
off, but then I know that I would not be in God's will! I
tell people today that say they desire all
of what God wants for them and to serve him in whatever
manner that he chooses, "make sure you know what you
are saying! You may be asking for more than what you are
willing to bargain for!" So .. I said all that to
say this: This time we traveled deeper into the remote areas
than we have ever traveled before. The harvest field for
souls was extremely ripe. Many of the people had not
received the salvation message of Jesus Christ yet and were
hungry and very responsive to it. I know in my spirit that I
must travel back as soon as possible and go even deeper into
the bush to reach the many souls that have not heard about
Jesus. We will continue traveling very deep into the
Kapenguria District to the nomadic Pokot tribe, and then
possibly north up into southern Sudan where we will show the
Jesus Film and preach the Word of God. The following is a
very good article about the Pokot people at
www.gateway-africa.com/tribe/pokot_tribe.html.
I am planning the next trip sometime in the fall of 2009'.
However God is directing you to help, please respond
accordingly and I know that you will be blessed in return!
Believe me
when I say that we are heading very close to the certain
return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The world is in
shambles and the birth pains are getting closer together.
God's Word tells us "But of that day and hour
knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father
only" Matthew 24:36. However we are also told
in Luke 21:31 "Even so, when you see these things
happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near".
Let us all do our part to bring in the harvest during these
last days so that we may hear the wonderful words ring out
"well done good and faithful servant!"
God bless
you all!
